Something to Think About…
Psalm 34:13
“Keep your tongue from saying evil things and your lips from speaking deceitful things.”
This scripture talks about our tongues and lips. He says that we must not speak evil things or deceitful things. How can we go around speaking unkind or negative things and still say that we are Christians and have a relationship with God. IN James 3:9 it says that “with our tongues we praise our Lord and Father. Yet with the same tongues we curse people, who were created in God’s likeness.” You see with our tongues we can either speak life or death into the lives off those around us. Positive words or negative? But not both, one or the other. James goes on in that same chapter to talk about living wisely. Living wisely includes speaking good things. You see our words have power. Jesus tells us in John 16:24 “Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” All we have to do is ask in the Name of Jesus and are words can bring healing and miracles, in the same way our words can bring destruction, not only in our own lives, but for the lives around us. You never know what those around us are going through and that negative or criticising comment could really damage them, whether you mean it or not. In the same way that positive and uplifting comment could make someones day. So next time you are about to say something negative think twice. Speak life life not death; Because there is power in your words.
